Our Story

From IIT Bombay to the Valleys of Pampore

Vethrin was born from a simple realization: the world's finest spice was being treated as a commodity of doubt. As graduates of IIT Bombay, we spent years studying complex supply chains and systems engineering. But when we visited the high altitudes of Pampore, Kashmir—the historic heart of saffron cultivation—we saw a trade grid locked in systemic distrust.

Growers who spent weeks hand-harvesting delicate crocus blooms in the chill of autumn were paid a fraction of retail prices. At the same time, consumers in global cities were buying highly marked-up packages, unable to verify if the content was pure saffron or dyed safflower. Middlemen thrived on this opacity.

We decided to build a bridge. Combining our technical background with local Kashmiri farming partnerships, we established Vethrin. Our goal is straightforward: eliminate the middle layers, pay growers what they deserve directly at the source, and provide every buyer with absolute, laboratory-verified proof of purity.
